Our Mission
To interrupt generational and systemic trauma by building prevention-centered systems and connected communities that make healing accessible, equitable, and possible, for every community, regardless of circumstance.
Our Vision
A world where every person has access to the tools, language, and relational environments they need, not to manage trauma, but to heal the cycles that perpetuate it. Where organizations strengthen people instead of depleting them. Where communities are built to protect human development rather than undermine it.
ADVOCACY | EDUCATION | PREVENTION
We believe true healing begins before crisis, yet prevention is often missing.
The Elephant and Willow Project provides prevention-first trauma education to schools, early childhood programs, community mental health agencies, and family-serving organizations helping communities build relational wellbeing early.
Too often, those who need mental health education most cannot access it. Affordability should never preclude healing. We’re committed to making research-grounded, prevention-first education accessible to all.
E&W’s Core Values
-
Prevention Over Reaction | The most effective intervention happens upstream. Our work strengthens emotional development and relational systems before crisis occurs, because addressing root causes produces outcomes that symptom management never can.
-
Human Development First | Behavior makes sense in context. We center human development as the foundation for understanding why people do what they do, rejecting approaches that blame, shame, or pathologize individuals for the environments that shaped them.
-
Community Builds Capacity | Healing does not happen in isolation. It happens in relationship, through shared language, collective responsibility, and environments where belonging is the norm rather than the exception.
-
Equity Through Access | Access to prevention education and mental wellness should never depend on income, zip code, or circumstance. Every community deserves what well-resourced organizations take for granted.
-
Respect for Lived Experience | The people closest to the problem are closest to the solution. Our work is collaborative, not prescriptive, rooted in humility, listening, and the wisdom that lived experience carries. We honor the wisdom of lived experience in every community we serve.
-
Sustainable Change | Systems change takes time. We build approaches that strengthen people and organizations over time — creating capacity that outlasts any single program, funding cycle, or leader.
